Unlock the Power of Expert Advice!
Google is now addressing a lag in indexing new content on some sites. The problem is known as “delayed indexing” and impacts a very small number of sites. To date, there has been no impact reported.
Official Statement from Google
At 6:38 PM ET, Google updated in its Search Status dashboard that they are experiencing a problem with indexing that is ongoing. They said that they are looking into the cause and will update everyone within 12 hours.
Confirmation by John Mueller
He explained later that John Mueller, Google Search spokesperson confirmed that problem roughly began around when the notice was published. He said that the issue is specifically on indexing and would probably not touch anything else in Search.
Partial Impact to Some Sites
This, while a known issue, occurs mostly with searches in news sites on short time-frames. This does not, however, appear on any example given on the Google support forums. This, therefore, points out that this is an isolated problem of index delay and does not cause any widespread problems with the website at large.
Conclusion
Google is also doing its best to solve the problem of delayed indexing that a number of websites are currently encountering, and new updates are underway. So if you have faced issues with your site’s indexing, it might most probably be because of this problem and hence will be short-term.
